A Note from Our Team

Welcome to the very first issue of the GCG Global Forum Newsletter, and thank you for being here.

This newsletter was created to keep you connected to what is happening in global trade, supply chain, and international business development, and to share how GCG Global Forum is right in the middle of it all.

Every month we will bring you insights, market spotlights, and updates on the work connecting leaders, organizations and institutions across borders.

Steve Guagliano, CEO & Founder, GCG Supply Chain Corporation

GCG Global Forum is a strategic forum dedicated to advancing meaningful cross-border dialogue, partnerships, and growth. Built on decades of hands-on international experience, we deliver four core services:

Executive Speaking

High-impact presentations on international trade, strategy and global growth.

Business Development

Connecting organizations to new markets and qualified opportunities.

Strategic Partnerships

Facilitating collaboration between institutions, governments and enterprises.

Advisory & Expansion

Experience-driven guidance for international positioning and execution.

We work with industry associations, trade councils, financial institutions, and government bodies across Canada, Brazil, Africa, China and beyond.

Something important is shifting in Canadian trade, and it is creating real opportunities for businesses that are paying attention.

For years, Canada's trade story was largely tied to one major partner. Today that is changing. Canadian businesses across commodities, supply chains, agriculture, energy and strategic partnerships are actively looking beyond borders, and the timing has never been better.

At GCG Global Forum, we see this not just as a trend but as a genuine turning point. The businesses that move intentionally now, building the right relationships, understanding the right markets, and having the right conversations, will be the ones that come out ahead.

A Message from Our Founder

Canada China Trade

Canada & China

China remains one of Canada's most significant trade relationships, and one of the most complex to navigate well.

In 2024, bilateral merchandise trade between Canada and China totaled $118.7 billion, with services trade reaching $12.0 billion. Canola, seafood, critical minerals, energy and technology continue to generate strategic opportunity.

Success in the China market is about relationships, patience, and the ability to communicate value across cultural boundaries. GCG Forum has cultivated meaningful China connections over many years.

Liberia & West Africa

Not every significant market makes the front page, and that is sometimes exactly what makes it interesting.

Canada's bilateral merchandise trade with Liberia reached $64.3 million in 2023. Canada's long-standing development cooperation has created a foundation of trust few Canadian organizations have fully explored commercially.

For GCG Global Forum, West Africa and Liberia in particular represent a genuine long-term opportunity. If your organization is thinking about Africa, we would love to have that conversation.

West Africa Trade

What is CIQA?

A government body supporting quality assurance, certification awareness and trade standards for the Chinese marketplace.

The Partnership

CIQA and GCG Global Forum are exploring an alliance focused on business conferences across Canada, with future U.S. expansion.

The Goal

Better prepare Canadian businesses for international markets through practical knowledge, trade awareness and compliance guidance related to China.

GCG is proud of its long-standing and valued relationship with CIQA. For many companies unfamiliar with the requirements of exporting to China, understanding certification, compliance expectations, and market-entry procedures is critical to achieving successful trade operations.

These initiatives will seek to increase awareness of CIQA and the important role the organization plays in helping businesses better understand international market requirements, trade readiness, and the importance of proper certifications when entering global markets.

At GCG Global Forum, we are excited about this developing initiative and sincerely appreciative of the support, confidence, and collaboration extended by CIQA, particularly its Secretary General, Mr. Jason Cao.

Behind the scenes there is a lot in motion right now. We are actively developing partnerships with trade associations, logistics leaders, industry organizations, government ministries and diplomatic missions across Canada and internationally.

  • Building a strategic conference and events program across Canada.
  • Developing relationships with consulates and embassies for co-hosted trade events.
  • Exploring membership and partnership models for ongoing engagement.
  • Launching a LinkedIn presence to keep our community connected.

Every step is intentional. Every relationship we build is with purpose. That is the GCG way.

Each month this newsletter will bring you:

  • Trade and commodity trends affecting Canadian businesses and global markets.
  • Market updates from Africa, Asia, Latin America and other strategic regions.
  • Insights on supply chain development and cross-border commerce.
  • GCG Forum updates, including events, partnerships and new opportunities.

We believe the future of trade belongs to those who stay connected, informed and open to new markets. This newsletter is our way of keeping that conversation going.
